This commission for Northern Goldsmiths was a wonderful collaboration. Jonpaul Kirvan of Ampersand Inventions illustrated the building, and Nick Christie of Incubate Printmaking transferred the design to screen and printed it onto Fabriano paper. Our role was to complete the artwork using embroidery and embellishment, working with a mixture of glass beads, Swarovski crystals, pearls and metallic threads. The piece was created to celebrate the reopening of the flagship Northern Goldsmiths store following its multimillion renovation, which at the time sat directly opposite our studio at Orbis Community. The real highlight was witnessing the emotional response from the store manager and CEO, and being invited to the VIP opening, where the artwork was publicly handed over.
